Classroom Library
How can students improve as readers? They have to read daily! More importantly, they have to read books at their reading level.
I have gone through my collection of books and leveled about 80 percent of them. I have then organized picture books by topics. Chapter books are organized by author/series. Non-Fiction books are organized by topic. I have
made a special place for double copy books so students may read with a partner. It is my hope that with this organization students will read often, learn to pick books that interest them, and read from a variety of genres.
Check Out System
Students will be allowed to check out 3 books at a time from our classroom library. They are to keep these books in their book bins. They are to write down the books they choose to read in their booklog (located inside
their Reader's Notebook).
